Renowned vegan chef Matthew Kenney plans to open all-vegan food hall Plant City in Providence, RI in June. The two-story, 10,000-square-foot building will offer multiple vegan restaurant options, including quick-serve, takeout, and full service dining, covering Kenney’s restaurant concepts such as vegan pizzeria Double Zero, Mexican restaurant Bar Verde, casual bar and bistro New Burger, and raw-food eatery Make Out. The space will accommodate approximately 225 seats between its upper and lower levels and include a full-service outdoor patio. The hall will also include an extensive retail component with a selection of perishable and non-perishable products, fermented nut cheeses, plant-based desserts, boutique packaged goods, cookbooks, and to-go foods and juices. “Plant City will seamlessly integrate our restaurant concepts into a collective format under one roof,” Kenney said. “You could say it’s a reinterpretation of food halls like Eataly—but founded on our highly-refined approach to plant-based cuisine.” The opening of Plant City joins an expanding list of vegan restaurants and products that Kenney will be launching in the coming months, including new eatery Hungry Angelina inside the Etsy headquarters in Brooklyn, NY, four additional locations of Double Zero across the country, as well as accompanying frozen pizza line Double Zero Pizza.
